Making A Difference In Our Community
Members of Junior League are accomplished collaborators who build coalitions, identify community needs, and develop effective and responsive programs to serve those needs. We reach out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism.
Each year, the Junior League Of Manatee County raises thousands of dollars for women and children in Manatee County through fund-raisers such as Sally Foster, Beer Tasting Gala, and the American Girl Fashion Show. Additional funds are obtained through solicitation of businesses to become Community Partners and contributions from the community.
Members of the Junior League of Manatee County annually perform thousands of volunteer hours to improving Manatee County. Projects supported by the Junior League of Manatee County vary from year to year, and recently have included Backpacks Project, Kids in the Kitchen, and honoring outstanding women in the community with the Women In Strength Awards. In addition to these community projects, members also participate throughout the year in such annual events as the Coastal Cleanup, Keep Manatee Beautiful Day, and the Palma Sola Botanical Park MayFest.
We empower women through leadership training and development to make a difference where they live by taking action in our community.

Here’s What’s Involved:
Provisionals
The Junior League of Manatee County accepts new members twice a year. During their new member educational period, new members are referred to as provisionals.
In addition to the regular meetings and responsibilities of the Junior League as a whole, provisional members attend monthly meetings to learn about all aspects of becoming a trained volunteer. Over a four month period provisional members complete an in-depth study of the history of Junior League and the Junior League of Manatee County, its committees, projects, finances, and by-laws. Provisional members also put their volunteer training to work by planning and executing a community project near the end of their provisional year. When this program is complete, provisional members go on to become active in a variety of projects and committees in the Junior League of Manatee County and in their community.
Provisional Project
Each year our provisional (new) members complete a community project as part of their program to become trained volunteers. Provisional members are responsible for planning, budgeting, publicizing, and implementing a project within our focus area.
